Bangladesh is principally a carp culture country.In many occasions freshwater prawn is included in the polyculture with carp and this gives anadditional income to the farmers.In order to make asustainable carp-prawn polyculture technology a combination of suitable carp species such as catla,silver carp and a nutrient dense mola along with prawn may be an alternative proposition. A further enhancedproduction was obtained when only all male prawn juveniles were included in such polyculture. Periodic selective harvesting of large blue-clawed (BC) and orange-clawed(OC) males from all-male culture,and large males and females from mixed culture can enhance the growth of small prawns.
