Mass Market Paperback. Publisher: Thames & Hudson Ltd. | 2020 | Mass Market Paperback | 328 p. | This book is brand new. | Series: WORLD OF ART | Language: Engelska --- Information regarding the book: In the 21st century photography has come of age as a contemporary art form. Almost two centuries after photographic technology was first invented, the art world has fully embraced it as a legitimate medium, equal in status to painting and sculpture. This book provides an introduction to the extraordinary range of contemporary art photography, from portraits of intimate life to highly staged, 'directorial' spectacle. The vast span of photographers whose work is reproduced includes established artists such as Isa Genzken, Jeff Wall, Sophie Calle, Thomas Demand, Nan Goldin and Sherry Levine, as well as emerging talents such as Sara VanDerBeek, Rashid Johnson, Viviane Sassen and Amalia Ulman. This new edition revitalizes previous discussion of works from the 2000s through dialogue with more recent practice. Adding to the wide selection featured of work, Cotton celebrates a new generation of artists, who are shaping photography as a culturally significant medium for our current socio-political climate. | We have this book in our store house - please allow for a couple of extra days for delivery., 0, Original Hardcover. Photographic framings of the body inherently reflect issues of surveillance, the transgression of norms, labour conditions and racial discrimination. The represented works, spanning from the turn of the 20th century until today, indicate that these issues are continuously relevant - and perhaps more pressing than ever. The book includes works by distinguished artists such as Bolette Berg and Marie Høeg, Walker Evans, Ernest Cole, Nan Goldin, Annika Elisabeth von Hausswolff, Kent Klich, Adriana Lestido, Jorma Puranen and Christer Strömholm. Framing Bodies was produced in conjunction with the Hasselblad Center, and forms the second in a series of thematic books and exhibitions based on the Hasselblad Foundation Collection, Gothenburg, Sweden. The first book in the series is Still Life / Work Life, also available from Art and Theory. | We have this book in our store house - please allow for a couple of extra days for delivery., 0, Mass Market Paperback. Printed on pristine-white, thick glossy stock paper in Bologna, Italy to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Diana Scheunemann's "Photographs". Her sexually explicit photographs of individuals and couples. Adds a stylish European inflection to the gritty work of her predecessors in Nobuyoshi Araki, Larry Clark, and Nan Goldin. Her achievement is not to push the boundaries of what can be shown in photographs about sex, a la Mapplethorpe. On the contrary, it is to show that sex has become, at least for the urban youth generation of the first decade of our century, the basis of a casual yet genuine lifestyle, something one does that helps define what one is, what has since come to be called "metrosexual". Scheunemann prefers the word "ambisexual", which she used as the title of her ground-breaking debut collection. The words mean the same thing, sex-as-style. Thus, her subsequent work for fashion and lifestyle magazines is something neither Araki nor Larry Clark can do because it is antithetical to their work whereas it is entirely compatible with Scheunemann's. The sex is real, but its intention is to strike a pose rather than to arouse. Was all this made possible by the fact that Diana is (empathetic) female rather than (aggressive) male? Her publisher, who has produced a lavish volume, thinks so: "Codes for responding to exposures as complex as these don't exist in a visual culture flooded by male-conceived fabrications of sexuality, and it is partly through the resulting interpretive dissonance that Scheunemann's images acquire their strength" (Publisher's blurb). An absolute "must-have" title for Diana Scheunemann collectors. This title is a contemporary erotic art photography classic.
